David the Accountant : David Crown MAAT FPC

David qualified as an accountant in December of 1992 after several years working for a local firm of Chartered Accountants, combining his second career and continued studying with his first passion; playing professional football.

He ended his professional playing career at Southend United in June 1993 and concentrated on building his own business and continuous study resulting in further professional qualifications in Financial Planning

David's style is that of quiet and assured professionalism combined with a very genial manner allowing clients to feel comfortable whether they are new to self employment or a long term chairman of the board of a successful multi-national.

David the Footballer

David never really left football behind. He still played on a semi -professional basis starting at Dagenham and Redbridge, moving to Purfleet (now known as Thurrock) then on to Canvey Concorde Rangers and on to Billericay where he more or less hung up his boots so to speak, as at this stage he was offered a position of assistant manager with his former Manager, Colin McBride from Canvey Concorde Rangers, who had moved to Purfleet Football Club.

From here he was offered a position of assistant manager with Southend United. He is known as a "Southend Legend"  Meanwhile the Accountancy business took off and after leaving S.U.F.C. he concentrated on this more with a view to being less involved with football. This didn't last very long as he was offered the opportunity to host the Blues Lounge at S.U.F.C which he still does now for every home game. He often gets called upon by BBC Radio 5 Live to do interviews etc on the radio and the Evening Echo call on his expertise quite a lot for interviews.

There is also a football team named after him called the David Crown Steamers which is run by David's fans from Reading where he played during 1983-1985 and although yes he is an accountant he is also very much still a "footie  nut"  and yet still finds time for the other 2 passions of his life; his lovely wife Carol and his Golf.
